ABOUT US

Mountain- skills is personally overseen  by Ian Ridley who has over 35 years experience of walking and rock climbing. Not only in  Scotland, the Lakes, North Wales and on Dartmoor, but also in the Alps, having summited Mont Blanc, the Matterhorn and the Eiger to name  just a few  well known alpine peaks. In the autumn of 2009 he climbed Ama Dablam (6856m)  in the Himalayas and is attempting to climb Everest (8840m) in May 2010.

Ian is 46 years old, and has been walking since the age of the 11 when he first climbed Snowdon in the pouring rain. He wasn't put off by the wet weather and mist, only by the dreadful cagoule he had to wear- best described as a "nylon bin liner"!

A qualified chartered surveyor, his outdoor qualifications include both the Mountain Leader  Summer  and Winter Awards, the latter being  recognised by the Scottish Credit and Qualifications Framework  as being a degree level qualification. He holds a current outdoor first aid certificate and is also a member of his local mountain rescue team - the Ashburton Section of the Dartmoor Rescue Group.

Importantly and for your peace of mind mountain-skills.com is fully insured up to £5 million for all the activities offered.
